I'm building a cottage that will be located on a large rock so the only
solution that i can find is to build it on pillars and I would like to
know
what would be the best spacing between pillars and what would be the
beam
size required for that spacing.  The roof is a gable roof with a 6/12
pitch sloping to the
36 ft side of the cottage (32x36).
The cottage is one level only and the external walls will be built of
2x6.

Thanks,
G.

How will you anchor the "pillars" to the rock? What are said pillars to
be made of? How big will the pillars be? What are the construction
details (other than the size) of the structure? Where?

All that said, dont answer any of them, you need to hire an engineer. It
will be money well spent as you will want to spend time in said cottage
sleeping soundly not wondering if "the pillars you got designed on the
internet" are adequate to hold your cottage on the side of the rock you
are sitting on and how will I remediate the situation if they arent, or
worse if the cottage slides off the side of the rock.
