My main problem with existing windows are that they are
ugly. I am wondering if I will gain enough energy efficiency
to make it worth spending money on new windows.  The windows
are in a north facing wall insulated with R-11 fiberglass.
The windows are single pane wood with aluminum storm
windows.  They are not particularly drafty.  Will I gain
much in comfort and energy savings by replacing them with
insulated glass and no storms.  John

Puting in dual pane Low E argon could save 15% or more on heating and
cooling, well worth it. Consumer reports has a good old article that
rated maybe 30 windows.
