How can I connect my surveillance camera to my cable which feeds the televisions in the house? I have tried to connect it into the cable line using a modulator. This modulator tunes to channels that are not broadcasting cable channels. But the result is a poor picture unless the cable TV line is disconnected. It appears that the signal from the cable TV is still blocking everything else on the line. You'll need filter and a splitter. The cable must pass through a filter that cuts out the frequency of modulated camera signal. Then the two can be mixed together with a standard 2-way splitter. The filters are normally either low-pass, which passes everything lower than the specified cut-off channel, or a notch filter that passes things on both sides of the notch -- centered around your modulator output frequency.
