OK.  I think we've all seen enough "Press Releases" about the stuff you sell.
We all know you.  We all know you sell stuff.  It isn't necessary to post
all these "Press Releases" (a.k.a. unsolicited advertisements)!  It would be
more appropriate to make a single post with titles and links to ALL YOUR
PRESS RELEASES at once.  You're clearly exceeding the proper use of this
newsgroup.

Not yet you haven't.  I have over 60,000 products
in more than 2,000 categories.  I have just scratched
the surface.

>> We all know you...

No, you don't.  You've never even met me.

OK, now you're one for three.

Sure, it is.

You guys post the same unprovoked attacks
and personal insults over and over again.  My
messages are on topic and the PR in the
subject line is fair warning that the post is a
press release.  If you don't want to see them,
you can easily filter by subject line.

Sorry.  Next time I'll include more information
about beer.

"Unprovoked attacks and personal insults", eh?  Gee, what could possibly
provoke this kind of response?  Could it be 15 or 20 "PR posts" in the
last few days??  In a forum that's largely comprised of industry
professionals?  Go "shill" your store at CHA.

For whom??  The few DIYer's that have posted here asking for help??
Yeah...  right!!

Using this as an excuse to blatantly advertise your store is NO EXCUSE.
Read the Group FAQ at http://www.yoursecuritysource.com/asafaq.htm.

I don't want to see them.  And I don't want to have to filter anything.

No, please don't let there be a "next time", beer notwithstanding.

As helpful as you've been it's not a free pass to spam the group.  Stop,
please.

The format and content of the posts conforms with
commonly accepted practice.  They are on-topic
here and not particularly frequent.

> We all know you.  We all know you sell stuff.

We all know that Ford sells cars.

One doesn't solicit anything in Usenet.

No need to yell.  My posts inform users what is
available through my company.  They also help
with search engine ranking.  The upside to that
is that people searching for home automation
related product not ony find my store but are
also introduced to this newsgroup.

Not by a long shot.

Actually, they *ARE* far too frequent and far too commercial.

In a newsgroup, staying low-key means sending a crass commercial message
no more than once a week.  (And even THAT will get you flamed.)

Take a look at my postings here. I'm not very vocal.  If even *I* am
piping up about this, you're probably WAY out of line.  You're making
yourself and your company look bad.

The best way to promote yourself in a newsgroup is to contribute factual
information that impresses people with your insight, knowledge, and
competence. If your messages include a brief signature that lets folks
know that you also have commercial interests in the subject matter, you
will draw their business.

Dumping your catalog onto the newsgroup in bits and pieces, nearly every
day, also impresses people -- but probably not in the way you intend.

Just so all the groups Bass posts in can see what a crook he is, I
think I'll break my own rule and cross post the following.

The following is the Better business report on how badly he treats his
victims.

If anyone would really rather not see this being posted in its
entirety every time he advertises in a Newsgroup whose FAQ prohibits
doing so ..... you'd better start complaining to Bass about it.

Otherwise ..... I guess it's just to f.cking bad.

Not even close.  These come about once a month.
PR messages about products and services related
to the subject of the newsgroup are acceptable to
all ISP's.

That's difficult to do unless you use a real name.
You could be posting 2,374 spam messages a
day or none at all.

> I'm not very vocal...

Since Usenet is predominantly text based,
that's probably a good thing.

Even whom?

Nobody is in charge here -- which is why we have to deal with this sort
of behavior in unmoderated groups.

Look, I'm just trying to offer you a much-needed clue about how to
effectively market your services without making yourself look like a fool.

You just go ahead and keep it up. If your intent is to drum up business,
you'll be wasting your time, effort and (presumably) good name.

If your intent is just to piss people off -- well, then you'll certainly
be successful by that criterion.
